I have always had an interest in meditation, which I started doing with a couple of friends around 25 years ago. It was during those beautiful evenings where I first discovered the feeling of channelling energy through my hands, what I now know to be Reiki. One of my friends was just starting her Reiki training and I offered myself as a willing guinea pig! I loved the deep feeling of relaxation and the peaceful calm I felt after the session, which continued for a number of days after, and as a mother of two children under 5, that was some feat!
My meditation practice was always something I aspired to, but with a busy job and family life it was something that was, like for many mothers, put to the bottom of the list. I finally completed my level 1 Reiki training in January 2019 and loved it. I followed up with the level 2 the month after.
Then we had a time of disruption, where I was unable to put my training into ‘hands on’ practice. I continued to offer distance Reiki to family and friends when they were in need. In June last year I qualified as a level 3 Reiki Master Practitioner. I was so delighted to complete the training and to start offering this beautiful practice to the world.
My background is mostly in office administration and working predominantly with and for education settings ranging from Pre-school right through to University PhD students. I also had the privilege of teaching basic computer skills to the over 50’s for a number of years. I left my admin job last September and started focusing wholeheartedly on my own health and wellbeing. I feel so much stronger since practicing Reiki. It has given me, amongst other things, the ‘energy’ to bring my new venture to life.
I welcome the opportunity of offering a Reiki session to anyone who has a desire to find a sense of peace and an inner calm amongst the difficulties that life brings our way.
The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words, Rei which means ‘God’s wisdom of the higher power’ and Ki which means ‘guided life force energy’ so Reiki is actually ‘spiritually guided life force energy’. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes the body’s own healing. Once the client is lying or sitting comfortably the practitioner will ‘lay on hands’
(which doesn’t necessarily mean physical touch) and is the ‘life force energy’ which flows into the
body. When the body’s energy is low then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress and dis-ease.
When the energy is more balanced we are happier and healthier.
